Job Description

AMICAALL Uganda Chapter is part ot ttie Global Alliance ot Mayors aod Municipal Leaders on WW AIDS in Africa formed under Ihe auspices at UNAIDS and UNDP. The overall goal of tire Alliance is lo prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and tn mitigate ihe social and economic impact ol the epidemic on urban and peri-urban communities in Africa.
AMICAALL Uganda Chapter was launched in November 2001 and subsequently, AMICAALL Uganda National plan ol action was developed. AMICAALL Secretariat was established in Kampala 10 provide technical support, managemenl and overall coordination of the Alliance Programme in the couniry. The Coordination Office also serves as fhe Secretariat lo Alliance Executive Council and AMICAALL Technical and Advisory Committee.
AMICAALL Uganda Programme with the support of Irish Aid is going to begin implementation ol a Ihree (3| year Projecl “Strengthening Local Government Seclor HIV Response in Karamoja”.
AMICAALL is therefore inviting applications from interested candidates (or the under listed posts based in Karamoja:

Job Title: Programme Coordinator
Lead Ihe implementation ot project activities
Provides administrative Support to AMICAALL Uganda Programme
Ensure that periodic programmatic repods are compiled and submitted in a timely manner Assist in drafting technical papers including, project proposals. Terms ol Reference, guidelines, concepts, manuals, reports, studies, etc
Liaise wilh donors, development partners and other key stakeholders lo identity opportunities tor coordination and collaboration and pro-actively seek out new funding opportunities Review Incoming proposals from Alliance member urban authorities lor development criteria and donor compliance, programmatic and narrative quality and identify sources of funding
Organize and attend regularly scheduled Alliance Executive Council and AMICAALL Technical and Advisory Committee meetings. Liaise wilh Town Clerks and AMICAALL local
coordinators to receive, consider and act upon the requests, needs or reports ot tha implementing urban councils.
• Provide technical guidance on implementation ol various projects Implemented under AMICAALL Uganda Program ma
Participate and represent AMICAALL in HIV/ AIDS related conferences, meetings and Seminars
• Assist in mobilization of AMICAALL annual subscription Irom Alliance members
• Any other task related to AMICAALL as assigned by Ihe National Coordinator
Quallllcalions
A University degree in related Held irom a recognized University and at least 3 years ol experience in program design and implementation. Postgraduate qualilications in relevant field will be an added advantage. The candidate musi have successlui progiam developmeni experience and proven ability In program identification and planning
Require ments
Experience working with Public Sector/National NGO involved In HIV/AIDS work and familiarity with donor-funded projects Strong experience and understanding of HIV/ AIDS care and support, and programmes that are designed to expand mitigation Experience in design, administration, management and im piemen latin n ot projects Is highly desirable
Demonstrated ability in strategic planning and project management
Excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills and highly skilled discretion Ability to plan, organize and implement multiple tasks, and problem-solve. Contribute to the developmeni ol organizational procedures, policies and systems ol AMICAALL Slrong interpersonal skills. Work with all levels ol management.
Team-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks, Work under Immediate deadlines, timely and efficiently
