About this Job:
The Medical Research Council/Uganda Virus Research Institute (MRC/UVRI) Uganda Research Unit on AIDS based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute, Entebbe invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans for the post of Medical officer. The MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS is a bilateral disciplinary research organisation funded by the Medical Research Council (UK), DFID (UK) and other donor organisations. We are seeking a keen and experienced physician to join a team of dedicated clinical and research staff working on HIV vaccine preparatory studies and clinical trials within the HIV Prevention Studies Programme. The post will be based at the Unit’s station in Masaka town, Masaka district
Duties and responsibilities:
Screening, recruitment and follow up study volunteers
Provision of clinical care to study participants
Collection and documentation study data
Supervision of junior clinical and other research staff
Requirement:
Qualifications and experience:
MBChB or equivalent.
At least 2 years of post-qualification professional experience.
Training or experience in clinical research would be an added advantage
Good interpersonal/communications skills.
Fluency in verbal and written English.
A good understanding of Luganda.
Highly organized, detail-oriented and self- motivated.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Duration: The appointment will be for two (2) years initially with 3 months probation period but renewable subject to written agreement of the two parties.
